Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 25, 2026
The short version: Digital Protractor doesn't have accounts and never uploads your photos anywhere. Everything you do on the canvas — dropping an image, dragging a ray, exporting a file — happens locally in your browser tab. We do use Google Analytics to understand overall site traffic — see Analytics below for what that means.
Information we do not collect
The protractor tool itself doesn't require or offer sign-up, so we don't collect names, emails, or passwords through it. Any photo, diagram, or blueprint you drop, paste, or upload onto the canvas is decoded and drawn directly in your browser using standard web APIs — it is never transmitted to our servers or any third party, and we have no way of seeing it. Closing the tab or reloading the page clears it completely, since nothing is saved server-side.
Contact form
If you use the form on our Contact us page, we store what you submit — your message, the category you picked, and your name and email if you chose to provide them — in a database (hosted by Supabase) so we can read and, if you left an email, reply to it. This is entirely optional: nothing on this site requires you to use the contact form. We use this information only to respond to you and improve the tool, never to advertise to you or sell it to anyone else.
Local storage & preferences
We store one small preference — your light/dark theme choice — in your browser's local storage so it's remembered on your next visit. This value never leaves your device and isn't linked to you in any way.
Analytics & cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand overall traffic to this site — things like how many people visit, which pages are popular, and what device or browser they're using. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as your approximate location (city/country level), device and browser type, and the pages you view, and it is separate from — and has no access to — anything you do on the protractor canvas itself. This data is aggregated and used only to understand site usage; we don't use it to identify you individually. You can read Google's own policy at policies.google.com/privacy, and opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all sites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by using your browser's built-in cookie/tracking blocking. Digital Protractor does not otherwise set advertising cookies or use any other third-party tracking service. If that changes, this page will be updated first, reflected in the "last updated" date above.
Server & hosting logs
Like virtually any website, our hosting provider may automatically record standard technical information for security and reliability purposes — for example, IP address, browser/device type, and the page requested. This is ordinary web server log data, is not used to build a profile of you, and is not something Digital Protractor accesses or processes beyond what the hosting infrastructure retains by default.
Third-party links
Pages on this site may link to external resources (for example, documentation or attribution links). We aren't responsible for the privacy practices of external sites — check their own policies before sharing information with them.
Children's privacy
Digital Protractor is a general-purpose measurement tool and is not directed at children under 13. Since the tool collects no personal information from any user, there is nothing collected from children either.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the tool evolves. Material changes will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
